MTR Opens In Dubai After Singapore

Finding thick crusty masala dosas and filter kaapi in one restaurant was almost impossible” says Vikram Maiya, Managing Partner of Mavalli Tiffin Rooms (MTR) which was set up in 1924 by the legendary Parampalli Yajnanarayana Maiya in Bangalore. Vikram shares the huge responsibility of delivering expectations of dozens of thousands of customers who walk in to MTR hotels across different locations in India and Singapore. 

When questioned about the rationale behind setting up a restaurant in Dubai as against the popular “Kannadiga addas” in the United States, Vikram is quick to quirk that the world is indeed a small place for his growing restaurant empire. By demand or the lack of it, his desire to find authentic Karnataka food in the United Arab Emirates has given rise to launching MTR in Bur Dubai in early May.

MTR hotels had recently launched their first restaurant in an offshore location in Singapore. With an astounding success of the Singapore launch Vikram along with his siblings Hema and Arvind look to take on the rest of the world armed till the teeth with their unparalleled legacy of a restaurant that was started on Lalbagh Road in Bangalore about 90 years ago by their grandparents.

MTR restaurant in Dubai is located at Al Tawhidi Building, opposite Apsara Super Market, Bank Street, Bur Dubai. The restaurant is open on all days other than Mondays.
